Co-Curricular Activities

54th Regiment
The 54th Massachusetts Regiment is recruiting! Come be a part of history! Men and women, this is your chance! Strike a blow for freedom! The 54th is a reenactment group that studies the history of the American Civil War. We get to live in the past a few weekends a year. This is done along with other persons who do living history. We travel for weekend events and do talks at schools.

Meetings: Thursdays after school with Mr. Belyea, Room 205.

Book Club
The Cathedral High School Book Club, started by students, for students, meets every other week to discuss their current book. New books are chosen by student interest. In addition to reading new and exciting books, the CHS Book Club views film adaptations of the books. If you love to read or are looking for new and exhilarating books to read join us every other Friday in room 404. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Csorba in room 404.

C.H.S. Voices
C.H.S. Voices is a literary magazine and spoken word/performance group for all students at Cathedral High School.  From music to spoken word and slam poetry, Voices will help you refine your skills as a creative performer.  C.H.S. Voices plans to publish a showcase literary magazine in the spring of 2010.  In addition, C.H.S. Voices is proud to host monthly open- mic coffee shop nights featuring performances by club members, the students of Cathedral High School, visiting poets, alumni, and faculty.   C.H.S. Voices is about your voice, so let it be heard. Contact Mrs. Mikalaitis in Room 405 for more information and meeting times.

History Club
The goal of the History Club at CHS is to know, live, and make history. At the suggestion of members, we choose popular topics to study and do hands on activities to learn about them. Besides taking some after-school, off-campus trips, the club watches movies and hosts guest speakers on a variety of topics. Also, the History Club at CHS conducts activities to commemorate Black History Month, and is always looking for ways to get more involved in the Cathedral community. To become a member is as easy as signing up, and the meetings are once a week. The days vary, when it is most convenient for everyone. Contact Mrs. Wheeler in Room 204 for more information.

Mock Trial
Cathedral High School sponsors a Mock Trial team that participates in the annual statewide competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association. The Bar Association prepares a case based on a topical legal situation, and each school's team works on both sides of the case. Students then present each side of the case at different times in a real courtroom setting, with another school taking the opposing side.

Mock Trial is a great opportunity for students to develop a knowledge of the legal system, and learn how to argue a case clearly and logically. It is a chance to improve thinking skills, debating techniques, the ability to speak persuasively, and even acting talent. A number of Cathedral teams have moved beyond the initial stage of the competition.

Meetings: Please contact Mr. Norris at 617.542.2325 x303 or tnorris@cathedralhighschool.net.
