Co-Curricular Activities

54th Regiment
The 54th Massachusetts Regiment is recruiting! Come be a part of history! Men and women, this is your chance! Strike a blow for freedom! The 54th is a reenactment group that studies the history of the American Civil War. We get to live in the past a few weekends a year. This is done along with other persons who do living history. We travel for weekend events and do talks at schools.

Meetings: Thursdays after school with Mr. Belyea, Room 205.

Gospel Choir
The Gospel Choir at Cathedral High School sings songs of inspiration as praise and worship unto our Savior. It provides a moment during which we pull away from all academic studies and enjoy the melodies of the beautiful voices with which we have been gifted. In addition to rendering the music at liturgies and graduation ceremonies, we have also had opportunities to do outreach ministry at ceremonies for the homeless, Boston Medical Center, and college scholarship events.

Meetings: Please contact Ms. Hampton at 617.542.2325 x202 or ghampton@cathedralhighschool.net.

Mock Trial
Cathedral High School sponsors a Mock Trial team that participates in the annual statewide competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association. The Bar Association prepares a case based on a topical legal situation, and each school's team works on both sides of the case. Students then present each side of the case at different times in a real courtroom setting, with another school taking the opposing side.
Mock Trial is a great opportunity for students to develop a knowledge of the legal system, and learn how to argue a case clearly and logically. It is a chance to improve thinking skills, debating techniques, the ability to speak persuasively, and even acting talent. A number of Cathedral teams have moved beyond the initial stage of the competition.

Meetings: Please contact Mr. Norris at 617.542.2325 x303 or tnorris@cathedralhighschool.net.

Panther Step Squad
The Panther Step Squad, also known as PSS, is a new club at CHS this year. We are a performance group that uses our hands, feet, and voices to create rhythms and dance. Members of PSS team have an opportunity not only to learn steps, but also to create new and original steps and routines.  PSS is also going to be competing in local high school step shows.

Student Council
The Student Council promotes positive school spirit. The SC members provide a service for the school, a social for each class, a gift to the school, and other social events suggested by its members.
Student Council events:

  • Fall Carnival: At the beginning of November, students will compete as classes through a series of events for one week. These events will take place during the lunch blocks and after school. At the end of the week the Fall Carnival will end with a talent show.
  • Pinning Ceremony: In February, the junior class will host a ceremony to bless the sophomores' class pins. The sophomores will be pinned by the junior class; at the ceremony, the juniors will host a social gathering with a play/skit and pizza.

Yearbook Committee
The Yearbook Committee is comprised mostly of members of the Senior Class who produce a collection of words and pictures to commemorate their time at Cathedral High School. Committee members are involved in every aspect of creating the yearbook: They take photographs, write text, and design the layout using publishing software. Members are also involved in fund-raising and organizing activities related to financing the yearbook. Whatever your talent, the Yearbook Committee needs you!

Meetings: Members meets at least once a week beginning in September when a concept is decided on, and culminates in June with distribution of the yearbook. Contact Mr. Belyea at 617.542.2325 x205 or sbelyea@cathedralhighschool.net.
