College Planning

College planning is an integral part of Cathedral High School’s guidance program. Juniors and seniors are taken to various college fairs; students work with the My Road college planning computer program; the school hosts over forty college representatives from technical schools to two and four year colleges and universities. The career center also has many catalogues and DVDs that provide students with guided tours of many schools. The guidance office also organizes evenings for junior and senior parents interested in financial aid and college placement. The school posts all college open house dates weekly. The school gives the senior class a day off to schedule college tours. In addition, Cathedral High School also gives the seniors two days for college visits as well as organized trips to college campuses. For example, twenty-two seniors spent a day at Providence College last month. They were given a tour, lunch, application and admission policies, and had a chance to speak with students. All seniors also have a chance to work on their college essays at the law firm of WilmerHale. Each senior works individually with a lawyer from the firm preparing their essays for application.
