Career Center
The College/Career Center is part of the Guidance Department of Cathedral High School. With a grant and the financial support of WilmerHale, the Center is equipped with a state-of-the-art computer lab for students to access information about different career requirements and opportunities and go thorough college searches. An excellent web-based program, Naviance, financed by the grant, is introduced to juniors and seniors. With the help of two interns from Northeastern University, this year the Naviance program will soon be available to all students. During the second semester, sophomores and freshmen will be introduced to the program. This program can be accessed on any computer provided the students have a user name and password.
Our counselors meet regularly with the students and find that Naviance gives them a wealth of information about each individual student. The Career Center is open to all students and contains college catalogues, CD's, videos and all the personal and guidance information needed to make enlightened career choices. We also received new career books with updated information about new job opportunities for the 21st century. These books also contain many options for new technology based work opportunities.
During the months of September, October, and November the computers in the career center are almost constantly in use by the seniors for SAT registration, college searches, available scholarships or financial aid. Juniors will begin their college search during the second half of the year using the Naviance program.
