Accounting
This first course covers the basics of bookkeeping and the principles of accounting. Accounting is the language of business and in this course all areas of bookkeeping are explored as the student develops a knowledge of the system and cycle that every business uses to keep track of its financial affairs. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have shown competency in: (1) mastery of the basic principles of bookkeeping/accounting (2) completion of bookkeeping functions such as journalizing and posting (3) workable knowledge of the tools of accounting such as balance sheets, income statements, ledgers, and journals.

COMPETENCY GOAL 1: Students will demonstrate the skills necessary to recordbusiness transactions and analyze the financial condition of a service business organized as a proprietorship. Objectives:
- Analyze Transactions into Debit and Credit Parts.
- Journalize transactions.

COMPETENCY GOAL 2: Students will demonstrate accounting procedures used in an accounting system for a merchandising business organized as a partnership. Objectives:
- Journalize transactions for a merchandising business organized as a partnership:purchase and cash payments; sales and cash receipts.

- Prepare Payroll Records.
- Prepare financial statements for a merchandising business.

COMPETENCY GOAL 3: Students will demonstrate accounting procedures used in an accounting system for merchandising business organized as a corporation. Objectives:
